Director of Ministries
“Not to us, oh Lord, not to us but to Your name be the GLORY, because of Your love and faithfulness.” Psalm 115:1
I continue to be so grateful for the opportunity to serve at Breakaway. After almost five years of being part of this ministry, I continue to stand amazed at how the Lord moves, works, stretches, uses, and loves. I have also been blessed by the way students have chased after the Lord and seen Him do wonderful things. In more ways than I have time to describe here, I have been reminded again and again how God lovingly and faithfully provides for His people. My time here has stretched me in numerous ways, and my faith has grown to new depths. One of the reasons I love this ministry so much is that I believe college students are some of the most exciting people to be around. They are at such a pivotal time in their lives, and I consider it an honor to walk through this part of their journey with them.
My road to Breakaway is a story that can only be written by our sovereign Lord. In 1998 I graduated from Hardin-Simmons University (Abilene, Texas) with a Bachelor of Behavioral Science degree. I received my teacher’s certificate and sought where God would lead me to teach. He took me to Seoul, South Korea where I served as a missionary teacher for two years teaching fifth and six grades. It was an incredible experience that changed my worldview and challenged me in ways I never knew possible. I then had the opportunity to teach sixth grade at the intermediate school I had attended as a child in Keller, Texas. While I enjoyed teaching and working with children, I had long felt a calling to vocational ministry. I am thrilled to have such an opportunity with Breakaway. As I look back to see where God has brought me and how He has used my time in this particular ministry to grow and shape me into His image, I am humbled and thankful to be here.
